Opening Day Disappointment

All the anticipation leading up to Opening Day in the Bronx came crashing down, as the game was postponed due to rain. Talk about a disappointment. For now, we will have to wait one more day for the start of the Yankees quest for their 27th World Championship. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate this time.

Get Well, Bob!

Well, it looks like Bob Sheppard, the legendary Yankees PA announcer is expected to miss the majority of the first half of the season. He is still recovering from health issues which began towards the end of last season. Bob is in his late 90's---amazing! His voice will be tremendously missed while he is home recovering. Get well soon, Bob!

Billy Crystal Makes MLB Debut

So, I am sure everyone has seen the highlights by now of Billy Crystal's MLB debut with the Yankees on March 13, 2008. He managed to make contact when he fouled off a pitch before eventually striking out against the Pirates. Very cool! Why can't the Yankees sign me for a one day contract? Oh, right....I'm not famous.

Tampa Bay's New Name, Colors, Logo, and Uniform Good Choice

The Tampa Bay orgnization recently announced a change in their name, logo, and uniforms. Previously known as the "Devil Rays", Tampa Bay is now simply known as the "Rays". They have changed their colors to navy blue and light blue and have introduced a new logo with a bright yellow sun. The former Devil Rays needed a major transformation to increase fan interest in the team. This was a much needed change. I mean, what the heck was a "Devil Ray" anyway? "Rays" just makes a lot more sense now sense they are located in the Sunshine State. Hopefully, their new image will radiate throughout Florida. I'm sure this change in name relates to the "Rays" push to get a new stadium in 2012.
